Hi!
Has anyone found any good programs that work well with Jaws for accessing IRC? I used Mirc with the speech add-on, but found it got a little too chatty. There are some jaws scripts available, but they are a little limited in functionality from what I've seen. Any ideas would be appreciated.

i developed one http://www.irc4life.net/mirc it uses mirc but you can turn what ever part of speech off that you wish, works with jaws and window eyes, by default it connects to my network but you can connect to what ever server you wish

I just wanted to give a great bigt whopping kudos to Supernover for Mirc4life. I like to give credit where credit is due and it is a fantastic program. Thank you for creating something that not only works well but is easy to use and has a great deal of functionality, making Mirc more accessible for those of us who enjoy geeking out on such things.

Another one that I've found to work well is the one on www.thefudge.net. Though I'll have to try the formentioned one as well, and compare.

they both work the same way, just a little bit diffrent, and as requested the url for my network is: irc.irc4life.net

I have not tried any other irc clients or programs at all. The only one I use is mIrc. For the person who was talking about mIrc, did you download the tIrc script? If you don't want to use the mIrc client, just look on google or some other search engine for other irc clients. Sorry but I didn't plan to have the updates finished as quick as this, But Mirc4Life 1.3 Is finished and ready for download!

Mirc4Life is an accessable IRC Client, Like Talking IRC and Mirc WithSpeech, It is accessable for Sighted, Jaws and Window Eyes users. It also has many useful options, the latest version has a talking time option, and options for an instant messaging gateway for use with MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Oscar and JABBER. As well as many many other great options.

The Latest Version is Mirc4Life 1.3

it's not a bad irc client, very similar to mirc with speech, the only thing about it that I don't like, and this is probably just me not knowing what I'm doing, is the fact that it automaticly connects you to the last server you were on. Apart from that I don't see anything else wrong with it.

you can turn that option off in options alt + o and connection to auto connect and you can also set your default server, you will find an option in the menu

ok, well I know I told you version wouldn't be out till next year but guess what, I lied!
Mirc4Life 1.4 is out and ready for download
I fixed and added more things like talking time, reminders, Auto Away (idle), wiki / google search, better menu options and so on
and I really really am done now! I have run out of ideas, these were all ideas i had before but couldn't get working, now they are so it is released erlier than i thought it would be.

Actually, I find MSChat 2.5 to be quite accessible; Microsoft cease further development of their IRC client...

guess what?
yeah another version of mirc4life is out
1.4 was ok, but i wanted to make alot of changes and add aload of new features and options. 1.5 worked well in beta trials but it is that diffrent and had that many new versions of 1.5 that we have jumpped to
Mirc4Life 2.0

this has so many new features and changes i can't list them

all the core features from 1.4 are still there, most improved.

I personally like Mirc4Life, though I like customization. Steven did an awesome job, but I'm going to try to make a cut down version (with just speech) so that the people that want can install speech and use a barebones version of mirc without the extra features, if they wanted to build something up.

mirc4life is now in version 2.3 with lots more to offer.
version 2.4 won't be out till later this year but i plan to offer much more again. any suggestions are welcome as ever.
